Healthy Virginia Lawns Program – Spring Visits Now Open
Is your lawn struggling with weeds, bare spots, or thinning grass? The Healthy Virginia Lawns Program can help you improve your lawn while protecting local waterways.
Through this program, York and Poquoson residents can receive an on-site visit from York/Poquoson Master Gardeners trained in sustainable lawn care practices.
What the Program Includes
For a $20 fee, Master Gardeners will:
Visit your property
Measure your lawn area
Collect soil samples for analysis by Virginia Tech
Provide a certified Nutrient Management Plan tailored to your lawn and specific conditions (valid for three years)
Answer questions about turf, trees, shrubs, and gardens
Conduct a stormwater assessment of your property

Spring visit dates: March 10–26
Registration deadline: March 23
Eligibility: Open to York County and Poquoson residents
