The Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court handles cases involving:

- Adults accused of child abuse or neglect, or of offenses against members of their own family (juvenile or adult)
- Adults involved in disputes concerning the support, visitation, parentage or custody of a child

- Children in need of supervision
- Children who have been subjected to abuse or neglect
- Court consent for certain medical treatments
- Court-ordered rehabilitation services
- Family or household members who have been subjected to abuse
- Foster care and entrustment agreements
- Juvenile Delinquents
- Juveniles accused of traffic violations
Commonly Requested Actions
The following is a list of the most commonly requested actions with the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and where to file for those actions:- Criminal warrants (Adult defendant) - File with the Magistrate at the Regional Jail
- Initial petition for custody/visitation - File at the Court Service Unit
- Initial petition for family abuse protective order - File at the Court Service Unit
- Initial petition for support - File at the Court Service Unit Or DCSE
- Motion for Show Cause (failing to comply with a court order) - File at the Clerks Office
- Motion to amend current Order (custody/visitation/support) - File at the Clerk's Office
- Petition for delinquency (juvenile defendant), Emancipation, Child in Need of Services, Child in Need of Supervision, and Paternity - File at the Court Service Unit
- Registration of Foreign Custody/Visitation/Support Order - File at the Clerks Office
