Special Recreation Camp

General Information

York County's Special Recreation Camp is a summer program that provides a variety of enjoyable recreational opportunities for youth with disabilities and/or special needs. Registration is limited.

*Waitlist - How it works

If a spot becomes available, an automated email will be sent to the email address on file (please ensure you have verified and opted in to receive these emails). You will be given a timeframe to accept or decline the position. If you do not respond within that time frame, you will be removed from the waitlist, and we will offer the spot to the next person. You may re-add them to the waitlist. Once you have accepted the spot, you will need to pay at that time. ***Ensure you have opted in to receive emails from us in the online registration portal.***

June 22 through July 17 (no camp on July 3)
**NO REFUNDS WITHIN 2 WEEKS BEFORE CAMP BEGINS**

Times

9 am to 2 pm (Monday through Friday)

Eligibility

Boys and girls ages 6 - 21 with disabilities are eligible for the camp

Location

Seaford Elementary Cafeteria, 1105 Seaford Rd

Fee

  • Residents - $500
  • Non-Residents - $700
  • Camp fees will be waived for York County residents in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the federal food stamp program. SNAP participants must register in person at the Parks and Recreation office, and proof of eligibility and residency is required.

The program fees include the following:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Field trips
  • Fun activities
  • Games
  • Movies
  • Special visitors
  • Swimming days

Field Trips

Our field trips will be listed on an activity calendar that will be emailed one (1) week before the first day of camp. The Special Recreation Camp site will not be open on field trip days. Parents are welcome to accompany their children on field trips. However, they must provide their own transportation and pay all fees associated with the trip.

In the event of inclement weather on outdoor field trip days, participants should call 757-890-3501, ext. 66, before 9:00 am am for cancellation information.
