Boards and Commissions Meeting Schedule
Appointments to York County Boards and Commissions are made by the Board of Supervisors. Approximately 200 citizens are appointed to various boards, committees, and commissions to assist in governing York County. Citizens who wish to be considered for an appointment can fill out the Board Bank Application or by contacting the York County Administration Office at 757-890-3320 for a copy. Board Bank applications are retained for one year after submission for the specific Board or Commission a citizen has an interest in serving. If a vacancy occurs, the Board Bank application will be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for review and possible appointment.

Agency on Aging
The Agency on Aging establishes and maintains a coordinated and comprehensive system enabling older Americans to find the community resources that assist in independent living to the extent of an individual's abilities and desires.

Alcohol Safety Action Program
The Alcohol Safety Action Program assists with planning of the (DUI) Youth Project, studies recidivist problem, addresses legislative issues surrounding DUI, assists with public awareness campaigns, and more for York County.

One York County representative serves as a liaison for York County to coordinate arts funding between York County and Williamsburg.

The Board of Building Code Appeals is responsible for hearing and ruling on appeals from the decision of the Building Official.

Board of Equalization
Appointed by the Judge of the Circuit Court, the Board of Equalization provides for the hearing and consideration of property owners applications for the purpose of equalizing assessments.

Board of Zoning & Subdivision Appeals
Appointed by the Judge of the Circuit Court, the Board of Zoning and Subdivision Appeals grants variances from the requirements of the County Zoning Ordinance or Subdivision Ordinance; grants appeals from the decisions of the Zoning Administrator.

The mission of the Chesapeake Bay Board is to protect and improve the water quality of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries by minimizing the impact of human activity on the waters within Chesapeake Bay Preservation Areas.

Community Services Grants Advisory Committee
The Community Services Grants Advisory Committee administers a grant program with established guidelines and criteria through which eligible civic and cultural organizations may apply to the County for funding.

Economic Development Authority
As a separate political subdivision of the State established under the Code of Virginia and created by the Board of Supervisors, the Economic Development Authority (EDA) can issue tax-exempt bonds to finance manufacturing facilities located within the County.

Employee Grievance Panel
The Employee Grievance Panel solves employee grievances that escalate to the Panel Level. Panel is responsible for interpreting the application of appropriate government policies and procedures in the conduct of a panel hearing in an employee grievance case.

The Code of Virginia requires local governments to have a Planning Commission, the purpose of which is to advise the Board of Supervisors on land use and planning issues affecting the County.
