Fishing Line Recycling

York County participates in the "Reel In & Recycle" program, hosted by the Boat U.S. Foundation.  Fishing line is collected in receptacles at Rodgers A. Smith Boat Landing, Back Creek Park, and Yorktown Fishing Pier, and shipped to a recycler.

Improperly disposed of fishing line is major threat to both coastal and inland fishing areas. It threatens marine life, damages boats, and fouls propellers. Recycling old fishing line is one of the best actions we can take to solve these issues.
