The first week of February is Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week, celebrating all of the wonderful creators who bring us the children's books we love. Get in touch with one of your favorites by checking out this list of authors and illustrators we have compiled, pick one, and write them a letter. Some of our favorites include Dav Pilkey, Jan Brett, Adam Rex, and Tui Sutherland. You can even write to Pete the Cat!
This month is the perfect time to write a letter sharing how much you
love and appreciate the people that create your favorite books. Here are some tips for what you can include in your letter:
- Tell the author/illustrator your name, age and why you are writing.
- Tell them what you like most about their books or characters.
- Ask any questions you have about them or their books.
- Thank them for sharing such wonderful stories and ideas.
Once you're done, drop the completed letters in one of the special mailboxes available at the Youth Services desk at both the Tabb or Yorktown Libraries. The YCPL team will take care of sending the letter out for you! Questions? Call us at Tabb Library at 757-890-5110 or at Yorktown Library at 757-890-3236.
