5 Fun Things to Experience at the Yorktown Admirals Game!

Do the cold winter months leave you bored with nothing to do? If so, we’ve got the solution to fix those doldrums! For the second year in a row, Yorktown is taking to the ice! The Norfolk Admirals are bringing a piece of the historic town to the rink at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, when the team will transform into the Yorktown Admirals at the Scope Arena in Norfolk. Here are five reasons why you don’t want to miss this unique opportunity to cheer on the team while embracing the spirit of Yorktown.

1. Meet Salty and watch heart pounding hockey!

We dare you not to smile as you watch lovable Salty and his silly antics on the ice. From high-fives to hugs, he’ll get the crowd cheering on the mighty Yorktown Admirals. Keep in mind that we’ve been winning in Yorktown since 1781, so don’t be surprised if you hear “GOAL!!!” more than a few times!

2. Support York County’s first responders!

During the game, guests will enjoy performances by the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety Honor Guard and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. You’ll also see quite a few of York County’s finest cheering in the crowd. 

3. Show off your hometown pride!

Pull out your patriotic gear and join us for a celebration that will leave you energized and shouting “Huzzah!” At the game, there will also be a limited number of custom Yorktown Admirals merchandise available for purchase, and autographed players’ jerseys will be sold at auction.

4. Cheer on the youth of York County!

As a special treat, The Fifes and Drums of York Town and a choir made up of schoolchildren from the York County School District will perform patriotic tunes. Their performances are sure to be crowd-pleasers!

5. Enjoy a free skate after the game is over!

After the game, attendees are invited to lace up and hit the ice during a free skate. Meet the players, pose with Salty, and have some good old-fashioned winter fun! Registration details will be announced soon. This free activity includes complimentary skate rentals, or guests may bring their own.
