Get Ready: Halloween, Leaf Collection, Vintage Market
— and Elections!

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween, York County!
It’s Halloween night, and we hope everyone enjoys a fun and safe evening of trick-or-treating! York County recommends trick-or-treating for children ages 12 and under from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (10/31). If you’re handing out candy, be sure to turn on your porch light to welcome little ghosts and goblins. Parents and caregivers—make sure your trick-or-treaters can both see and be seen by using flashlights, glow sticks, and reflective gear. Enjoy the festivities, watch out for pedestrians, and have a spooktacular and safe Halloween!

Final Opportunities to Vote Before Election Day
If you haven’t voted yet, there’s still time! Today (Friday, October 31 until 5 p.m.) and tomorrow, November 1 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), are the last days to vote early in person at the Registrar’s Office locations in Washington Square Shopping Center (Grafton) and Victory Village Shopping Center (Williamsburg). Your regular polling place will then open for all voters on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Remember, if you are in line by 7 p.m., you will still be able to vote. For more information, including sample ballots by precinct, visit the Registrar’s website.

Discover Treasures at the York County Vintage Market
If you're an antique lover, the York County Vintage Market on Saturday, November 1, is for you. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., browse the McReynolds Athletic Complex (412 Sports Way) to search for collectibles, antiques, art, accessories, and unique home décor. Live entertainment, classic cars, and food trucks will also be on hand. Please note that pets are not allowed at the athletic complex.

A Spot of History at the Yorktown Tea Festival
Tea for two, and two for tea! The third annual Yorktown Tea Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown on Friday, November 7. Tickets are on sale now, so don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the world of tea for a full day! Sample unique herb and tea blends while learning about the history of tea traditions. We hear that Abigail Adams will also be stopping by to join the festivities! Attendees will dine on tea with scones and sweet treats during the First Lady’s presentation.

Additional Notes for the Week…. This past Saturday’s Drug Take Back, Shredding Event, and Food Drive was a tremendous success! Thanks to our community’s participation, 317 pounds of food were donated to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and delivered earlier this week. Additionally, 4,800 pounds of paper were securely shredded and recycled by Shred-It, helping residents safely dispose of sensitive documents. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office also collected 173 pounds of medications for proper disposal—preventing potential misuse and protecting our environment. We appreciate everyone who took part in this important community event! The next National Drug Take Back Day is expected to take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
