Battlefield Parking

Evening Activities:

Beginning at 4 p.m., visitors who are arriving to attend the evening activities must park on the Yorktown Battlefield at the corner of Cook Road and Ballard Street, which can be accessed via Cook Road. The distance from the Battlefield parking area to the waterfront is approximately one mile with a portion over uneven terrain. Battlefield parking will close to the public at 8:30 p.m., or once the Battlefield reaches capacity. This includes visitors attempting to access the town via Alexander Hamilton Boulevard, Goosley Road, Old Williamsburg Road, and Mathews Street (by way of Rt. 17). If you are not a Yorktown Village resident, business owner, or have an official pass – you will not be permitted to park in Historic Yorktown. Please note that the Colonial Parkway leading into Yorktown is closed for maintenance. Visitors traveling southbound on Rt. 17 from Gloucester and Williamsburg will not be able to turn left on Goosley Road. Please continue southbound and turn left on Falcon Road to proceed to the Battlefield.

Handicapped Parking and Special Assistance:

Transportation will be provided from Yorktown Middle School from 4 to 7 p.m. for those with disabilities and special needs, as well as one designated escort (friend, family member, caregiver, etc.). You must be on-site and checked in by 7 p.m. to catch transport to the waterfront.

Also, both passengers will be issued passes and must have them to return on the shuttle at the end of the evening. Drop-off will be at the Yorktown Waterfront, approximately 200 yards from the performance area. The shuttle will make return runs from the Yorktown Waterfront to Yorktown Middle School from 9:45 to 10:30 p.m. It is important to note that once the shuttle parks at Riverwalk Landing, from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m., it will not make runs until after the fireworks show. Due to limited shuttle capacity, we ask all other individuals in the party to drive a separate vehicle to Yorktown and park at the Battlefield.

Other Important Notes:

Barbecue grills are limited to the Yorktown Beach Picnic Area, with designated areas for the disposal of hot coals. All alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
