Take 3 Steps to Save a Life

February is Heart Health Month! Every year, nearly 500,000 Americans die from heart disease which affects all ages, genders, and ethnicities. We can all take a role in reducing our risk by eating a more healthy diet, exercising regularly, and by managing our cholesterol and blood pressure. We can also be ready to help if someone collapses from a breathing or cardiac emergency. Hands-only CPR is the recommended form of CPR. It keeps blood flowing to a person’s brain in the event that their heart stops beating.

Learn what to do to help family members, neighbors, and strangers. The steps are simple and they can save a life. The Department of Fire and Life Safety’s “Take 3” Initiative teaches that a life can be saved by doing three important things:  call 911, perform CPR compressions, and retrieve and use an AED. Below are several hands-on opportunities to learn and practice these three steps. Find a "Hands Only" CPR class near you.
